Excellent and all original, cast iron ship's anchor lights made by R.C. Murray, Glasgow, Scotland circa 1920.
R.C Murray were known to be on the finest nautical dealers around during the late 19th century - 1920s, pre-WW2 so pieces were hand made & forged, and numbered, which is the case with this piece. Highly highly collectible around the globe with some pieces going for USD2,500. They are substantial in weight & appearance.
These lanterns were hoisted onto the mast when anchored to mark location. Lenses are clear to signify at anchor. Original and fully functioning oil burner. Easily electrified. Height is 27" to top of bail. Very very heavy piece. With full brass makers mark & emblem. Original glass. Stunning piece. For serious collectors of old nautical pieces, a glimpse of such fine workmanship back in the day.
