Very Rare 9 Feet Colonial Malaya Shop Ladder c. 1920s/30s in Perfect Original Condition
Extremely Rare 9 Feet Ladder. - Acquired from Kuala Klawang, Negeri Sembilan. Formerly it was used during the British Malaya Colonial Period around 1920s/1930s for 'KEDAI MENJUAL BARANG HARIAN UNTUK ORANG BARAT'. - Used inside the shop for storekeepers to keep and bring down food or dry goods that were stocked up for the use of British administrators and their families, either items sent from abroad or a specialized shop. - Since then it has not been used for anything else only kept as it was. - Very little restoration needed to be done, which we have done, no discoloration etc in ABSOLUTELY PERFECT ORIGINAL CONDITION. - Opens up very wide into 3 part for stability. - Restored also so that one can climb all the way up without wobbling. Also tested to carry weight of 100 fiction standard sized books. - 95% original bolts and fittings all iron, except a few replacement. Old fittings have all been tightened. - Exactly, when opened up, like one of those incredibly beautiful New York architectural ladders in those open plan offices. - What occasionally can be found are the old 6ft ladders. These are 9ft ladders so they are substantial in appearance and everything else. - Only Serious Buyers only. And only Serious & Considerate Offers are Welcome For This Piece. - More clearer photos will be shared in coming days. But please be quick!!!
